Task 1
Wednesday, 9 October 2013
Tuesday, 8 October 2013
Unit 1 Task 6
Task 6
Produce a short evaluation in which you explain how different learning styles can aid personal development. Use examples from your own. Experience in using different learning styles throughout the completion of your personal development training. You will need to carry out a small amount of research into learning styles in order to complete this task. M3
Deadline 20th December
There are four main learning styles: Visual, Auditory, Verbal and Physical.
Visual learning has a preference of teaching using images, pictures and colours in order to present the information. This is to allow people to be able to visualise the information or the event and to create their own picture in their minds. This method allows people to create the link between the information written on a page and the image in front of them.
Auditory learning has a preference on using sounds or even music to aid in the learning process. Certain sounds can provoke certain emotions or certain images to appear in your mind; attempting to teach by using associated sounds can be very useful because, when the student hears that specific sound they will be able to link it to a specific word, phrase or event.
Verbal learning has an emphasis on using your words, whether they are written or spoken. This teaching style promotes self-expression, being able to speak your mind and get things wrong in order to be corrected.
Physical learning involves participating in activities and associating the sense of touch with different things. Some people find that performing physical activities is more useful in their own learning process than simply writing something down on a piece of paper.
In this unit I have used visual, auditory and verbal learning methods to help me complete the tasks. I have used diagrams, presentations, videos and other images in several tasks to achieve the highest mark possible; this was my visual learning. I have listened to online videos when I have become stuck with a program to complete different tasks; this was my auditory learning. I have also communicated with my peers and teacher and have read online guides when I have become stuck with a task or to find out what to do next; this was my verbal learning.

Unit 1 Task 5
Task 5
Following the recruitment evening you and your colleagues are going to analyse interpersonal and written communications, criticising and justifying particular techniques used. Discuss with your peers the different interpersonal and written communication skills used during this project. Then write an individual report that analyses the discussed interpersonal and written communications criticising and justifying the different techniques used. (D1) Deadline 6th December
I used verbal communication when discussing problems and
difficulties concerning my work with my teachers and classmates. The advantage
of this is that my problems could be solved very quickly and I could continue
with my work. The disadvantage of this however is that sometimes, if a teacher
was not present, I could not continue the work as my classmates did not understand
the problem either.
I used clear written communication when posting blogs and responding to comments on my blogs. The advantage of this is that my work can be clearly understood without any verbal confirmation or reassurance necessary. The disadvantage is that ensuring everything that had been written was correct in terms of grammar, spelling and sentence structure; doing these checks took a lot of time.
I used teacher broadcasting demonstrations when beginning and finishing a set task. The advantage of this is that I am able to confidently begin and complete any task I am set; due to the demonstrations I know exactly what must be done to complete the task. The disadvantage is that, if I don’t understand anything that is said, I must rely on another method of communication to know how to complete the set work.
I used Blogger when I was posting my work for public display and for marking. The advantage of this is that all of the work required for the unit can be found in one place and is easily accessed. The disadvantage of this is that it can be quite difficult to understand and to find your way around the website and the pages.
I used Word to type up the information required for some of the tasks before I posted them in Blogger. The advantages of word is that it is extremely easy to use with several tool to help ensure that all spelling is correct and the layout is easy to understand. The only disadvantage is that not every task could be completed on work as it lacked some necessary features.
I used Published to complete some tasks that required a presentation or a leaflet. The advantages of this are that the program is easy to use and has the tools to create a very professional final product. The disadvantage is that it takes a long time to learn how to use the program properly.
I used Google Calendar to keep track of my work and to complete Task 3. The advantage of this is that all of the work to be completed and any deadlines can be marked down on the calendar and updates and reminders can be set. The disadvantage is that some aspects of the site can be quite confusing with some arguably unnecessary features.

Unit 1 Task 4 Corrections
Task 4
Create a dummies guide to using a feature of a software package of your choice.
For example, how to use the spelling, grammar and Thesaurus features in Word, or how to set up a simple presentation in Powerpoint. (P6) As part of your on going development and to fully achieve P5 you must review another students Dummies Guide, add comments on their post using the guidelines below.
Review the document and annotate to show any corrections to spelling, grammar, structure, formatting or content. (M2)
Unit 1 Task 3
Task 3
You must create and maintain a personal development plan which you will share on the recruitment evening.
This should begin with the completion of a skills audit, through which you will be able to identify your training needs.
The development plan should be completed using Google Calendar, and must include dates for completion of each stage of your training.
Add notes describing the source of the training at each stage. (P7-P8). This can be demonstrated by editing your google calendar and adding notes to demonstrate where or how you learnt how to do the skill.
Demonstrate effective communication interpersonal skills by discussing or emailing your plan to your tutor and also with your peer group and amend accordingly.
Embed your plan into your Blogspot, and ensure that you add notes to each planning stage to show that it has been completed. (P4).
Please note: you must respond to the feedback on Blogger as part of the evidence required for P5
Deadline Nov. 8th
For D2 (Independently use a personal development plan to undergo a process of identification of skill need and related improvement), your personal development plan that has been maintained throughout the assignment will provide the evidence required. Please note: if you complete the plan at the end you will not be awarded the Distinction criteria. You must maintain your plan throughout the assignment to be awarded a Distinction Deadline Dec. 13th. Evidence for D2 is dated annotated print screens of training taking place.
